After a record breaking transfer from Southampton, Shearer first appeared as a Rover at Crystal Palace in a thrilling draw. Alan scored 2 second half goals to put Blackburn in the lead but a late equaliser from Simon Osborn prevented the three points from going to the away side.

Shearer's last game for Rovers came at Ewood Park. He marked the occasion by once again scoring 2 goals and helping his side to victory. Blackburn still had two more League games to play but Shearer would sit them out in order to be ready for England's Euro 96 campaign.
