SHEARER
FURY AT GRIMSBY DEFENDER

2005
Newcastle striker Alan Shearer has launched a stinging attack on Grimsby's Justin Whittle after accusing the defender of elbowing him.
Shearer hit the winner in Wednesday's Carling Cup tie but needed three stitches in his lip after the clash.
"It would have been easy for me to go out there and do him because that is what I wanted to do but I had to be sensible," said the 35-year-old.
Whittle expressed disappointment with Shearer and remains unapologetic.
Both players were involved in a shoving match as they exchanged angry words at the final whistle at Blundell Park.
"He didn't want to shake my hand at the end and I haven't got a problem with that," he told BBC Radio Humberside.
"But I'm disappointed with him. If you dish it out you've got to take it."
And Whittle has been backed by his club.
The League Two outfit released a statement which read: "We feel that there was no deliberate intent on behalf of Justin to catch Alan with his arm.
"The referee was very close to the incident and no action was taken.
"We hope that this does not overshadow what was a pulsating cup-tie between Grimsby Town and Newcastle United."
Whittle may argue that Shearer appeared to catch him with an elbow shortly before the incident that left the Magpies forward feeling infuriated.
Shearer added: "I don't mind giving and taking stuff but there's a limit.
"I don't want any more protection than anyone else. I deserve to get the same as everyone else but I don't think I got that.
"He has done me, it was blatant. The referee was five yards away and did nothing.
"But the best way to answer people is to get a win and score goals."
